It supplements the daily essential vitamin intake.
Vitamins are a group of nutrients that are essential for metabolism and normal cell function. Your body requires two kinds of vitamins: fat soluble vitamins (A,D,E, and K) and water soluble vitamins (B Complex and C). Most of the vitamins cannot be synthesized by our body, instead, can only be obtained from our daily diet. Though vitamins are needed in trace amount, lack of any essential vitamin could result in physiological and pathological changes and metabolic disorders, known as vitamin deficiency. For instance, vitamin A deficiency – night blindness; vitamin D deficiency – rickets; vitamin B1 deficiency – beriberi; vitamin B2 deficiency – signs of chapped lips, sore tongue, infection in the mouth and throat; niacin deficiency – pellagra; vitamin B12 deficiency – anemia; and vitamin C deficiency – scurvy.
